Synopsis
A larger-than-life firefighter inspires a career-driven woman to live in the moment—and trust in the power of love—in this flirty, emotional novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Searching for Harmony.
Finn Ward has two passions: being a firefighter and being single. Although his parents are constantly nagging him to settle down, Finn just wants to enjoy himself while he’s young. Then, at a union meeting, he meets a gorgeous lawyer with a dazzling smile—and suddenly, settling down doesn’t sound so bad.
Rory Adams is fresh out of law school and looking to make a name for herself at her mother’s firm. She doesn’t have time for silly games anymore. But when she catches the eye of a dashing fireman who makes her body tingle from across the room, something instantly ignites between them. The only problem? Her father is Finn’s boss.
Their relationship turns both of their lives upside-down. Rory tames Finn’s wild ways, while he shows her that life can’t be all work and no play. But it’ll take some serious determination to keep their love secret—and real courage to admit the truth.
My Review
Book given in exchange of an honest review.
Another Ward brother bites the dust and we couldn’t be happier!
This time its Finn’s turn and we get to know him and his player ways a little bit more, until he sees her.
Rory‘s life has always been about working and making her parents happy, but she doesn’t have time for anything else.
Finn comes into her life and everything changes, she can’t seem to resist him, even though she knows that being with him could bring her a lot of problems.
I love a good old “bad boy turning good boy” story, Finn had his doubts but he knew what he wanted, and he never went back to his old ways, he was true to his feelings and that’s why I fell hard for him.
Even when he was being rejected time after time, he kept looking for her; he knew that the feeling he had meant something more.
Rory was a sweet character; she was just the right amount of inexperienced to make things interesting between them. Without even meaning to she spiked Finn’s male ownership instinct and there was no running away after that.
Like in all Kelly Elliot’s novels, the characters get to crossroad and in this case it’s Rory that needs to stop being afraid and embrace her feelings. True love doesn’t have time for second guessing or fear. If you want the HEA you have to be strong enough to face your deepest and darkest fears, because if you don’t have those, then it’s probably not true love.
A beautiful story about love and life, and how everything can change when you find that special person; maybe what you though was important is not anymore. You might end up being surprised at what you are willing to give up for love.
