The Dark Ones (The Dark Ones Saga #1) by Rachel Van Dyken

My Rating: 5 Stars
Sex Scenes: Yes.
Series: Yes, The Dark Ones Saga #1.
Subject: Finding light in the Darkness.
Synopsis:

To touch a Dark One is death.
To talk to an immortal is suicide.
Yet, I've been marked by both.
A Vampire.
And the King of the immortals.
My life is no longer my own.
And now I know the truth, my life was never mine to begin with.
It was theirs.

It's always been theirs.

I LOVE Rachel Van Dyken, all of her stories are like a drug to me, once I pick them up there is no stopping until I've consumed the whole book.

This story was no exception, I went in blind, knowing I was gonna find some supernatural component to the story but I wasn't sure what exactly that was gonna be.

I was pleasanty surprised that this book wasn't just about one supernatural genre, it has it all!

Each character we meet is just perfect and I loved all of them from the start. Of course Ethan is one of my favorite, but I gotta say that Mason was my ultimate favorite one. I don't think I've ever chosen wolf over Vamp but there is just something so special about him that called unto me.

Than being said, this time around we get Genesis and Ethan's story and its nothing short of exciting and sexy. She has no idea what this world she just fell in is, and everything she thought she knew is a lie. She will have to trust these people she just met if she wants to stay alive.

Enemies that turn out to be friends and stranger that might be everything you didn't even know you were looking for.

Simply incredible!

Chasing Bliss (Nights in Bliss, Colorado #7) by Lexi Blake & Sophie Oak

Series: Yes, Nights in Bliss, Colorado #7.
Subject: Convincing her they are perfect together.

Chasing Bliss, an all-new sexy romance in the Nights in Bliss, Colorado Series from New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake writing as Sophie Oak, is now live!

CB - AN.jpg

Decided a long time ago that Bliss is where I want to live. These men are just unbelievable!

We met Jesse and Cade on previous books and I was already intrigued by these two sexy mechanics. Their taste in relationships types isn’t a surprise either; it seems all threesome lovers find their ways to Bliss eventually.

Gemma is strong, and hardheaded, she doesn’t trust or depends on anyone else because she knows the ugly truth in people.

Bliss seems like such a weird place for her, she can’t understand why everyone seems so nice and concerned about her, she keeps waiting for their ugly colors to show and destroy everything.

The thing is, she doesn’t understand that this place is different than any other place in the world. She is now part of a family, and they take care of their own. The faster she gets this, the easier her transition would be.

Not only everyone loves her already, but these two cowboys can’t seem to back off, Jesse “the sweetheart” with all his love and possessiveness and Cade the cold one with all his darkness, secrets and intensity.

Jesse saw her and knew he wanted her like he has never wanted anything before. Now he needs to show Cade how good they can be and how impossible he will find resisting her.

Incredible sex scenes and some intense action moments as always, no story in Bliss happens without some gun power and hand to hand combat.
Simply amazing!

Excerpt:

“Do you want to dance?” Dumb. That was dumb. There wasn’t any music. The jukebox had gone silent five minutes before and no one had approached it since. She was so stupid. Cade turned from her, his hand going into his pocket. He walked away, her whole soul flattening. She didn’t even get an answer. He walked straight to the jukebox, putting some money in and in a few seconds, a slow, sultry beat started to pound out. Cade turned back to her, holding out a single, callused, deeply masculine hand. God, she was fascinated by that hand. “Are you sure? I don’t know what I can offer you.” She wasn’t sure of anything except the fact that if she walked out now she would hate herself forever. She might be able to forgive herself if she got played, but not if she didn’t try. She’d always tried. She’d wanted to be a lawyer so she’d applied to Harvard. She hadn’t let the fact that she didn’t have the money faze her. She’d gone for it. When she’d decided she wanted to marry Patrick, she’d told him they should get married. She’d spent her whole life chasing what she wanted. Why couldn’t she ask for this? “I’m not sure of anything.” She didn’t bother to hide her emotions. He’d been honest. She could be, too. “I’m scared out of my mind, but I want to dance. And I want a night with you both. Is that too much to ask? I won’t require anything from you but tonight, Cade Sinclair.” She felt Jesse’s arms wrap around her waist. Pure pleasure. She was drawn back into his heat, his body. And Cade crowded her front. He put his forehead to hers, nuzzling her sweetly. “I’ll dance with you. I should warn you, I’m not good. But I’ll dance as long as you like.” Cade pressed his body to hers, his hips swaying lightly. Jesse moved behind her. The sweetness of the moment assailed her. She let one arm wrap around Jesse and the other drift around Cade as the music flowed over her. Her feet moved in time over Trio’s hardwood floors. She barely noticed when other couples joined them. Couples? Trios. Laura Niles danced with her men, her body moving easily. Alexei Markov held Holly Lang as he swayed to the music. And Caleb Burke kind of, sort of, moved behind her. And she was surrounded by Jesse and Cade. She knew she should feel self-conscious, but it was hard when all she wanted to do was melt into them. Jesse’s hands molded her curves, skimming along her hips. Cade, who said he couldn’t dance, moved with such grace, his lean body picking up the beat and giving her something to follow. His chest pressed against hers, making her nipples peak. It wasn’t a dance so much as a seduction. Jesse and Cade surrounded her, not leaving an inch between them. While the music played, she didn’t have to think. She didn’t have a past. She didn’t care about the future. All that mattered was the moment, and the moment included two men. She let her arms tighten around them. “That’s right.” Jesse’s breath heated her ear. “Touch me.” Every inch of her body heated up. She felt drunk, but she hadn’t had that much to drink. She wasn’t drunk on alcohol. She was drunk on them, on what they represented. A new beginning. Tomorrow was supposed to be her wedding day. She should have been preparing to walk down the aisle, but tonight she felt. Felt. Every choice she’d made had been logical—from where she’d decided to work, to her groom, to the dress she’d bought. She let her head drift back, leaning against Jesse while she pulled Cade in. There was nothing logical about this. She wasn’t planning on staying in Bliss. She had nothing in common with the men. Except she wanted them, and they seemed to want her. She didn’t have to put a time limit on it. She could get her heart ripped out. She could completely fuck up. The world could end. Anything could happen. And that was okay. She suddenly didn’t need to know what would happen the next day or the next. She could live in the moment. She could embrace this weird life. No commitments. No promises. Just life. Was that what her mother had been trying to teach her? It didn’t matter. She took a deep breath and gave in. She wrapped her arms around Cade’s big body. He was so tall he made her feel petite. And Jesse was broad and built like a linebacker. “Are you ready to get out of here?” Cade asked. She nodded. “Can we go back to my place?” “We can go anywhere you want.” Jesse’s lips played along her ear. It was crazy. It was wild. It was everything she needed tonight.

The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis Graves

My Rating: 4 Stars
Sex Scenes: Yes.
Series: No.
Subject: To find someone that sees the real you.
Synopsis:
Annika Rose likes being alone.
She feels lost in social situations, saying the wrong thing or acting the wrong way - she just can't read people. She prefers the quiet solitude of books or playing chess to being around others.
Apart from Jonathan. She liked being around him, but she hasn't seen him for ten years. Until now that is. And she's not sure he'll want to see her again after what happened all those years ago.

Annika Rose likes being alone.

Except that, actually, she doesn't like being alone at all.

Annika and Jonathan story is not a regular love story. She is special and has been struggling her whole life with the fact that she has trouble fitting in. She doesn't understand how the world works, or people in general.

The only ones that she lets get close are her family and her roommate, because they get her, she doesn't have to pretend with them, its refreshing and easy, she is just herself.

Then she meets Jonathan and everything changes, she is dubious at first and who wouldn't be? People haven't been nice to her so far and she has no idea why he would be any different.

He surprises her by being exactly everything she needs, even though he doesn't understands the why's in every little quirk or issue she has, he watched her and learns. He accepts her with everything she is and in return Annika is able to open up her heart once more.

But life has other plans and when faced with tragedy she pulls out and blocks him and everyone out. She needs to be strong again and she can't seem to do it with him at her side.

She finds a way to be independent and to fight her own battles, because that's the only way she can truly be free.

Battling with her problem must have been extremely hard for her, we are all used to our world, where we understand the signals and we manage to navigate it with almost no difficulty. But for her, even getting up in the morning was a struggle, she learned to live a world that she didn't quite understand, and that made her stronger.

In the end it's not about being perfect, but working to be your best self. She was not normal, but that is overrated, she was special and her true friends and love ones could see it.

Being loved by her was one of the best things in the world, intense and forever.

Junk Mail by Kendall Ryan

My Rating: 5 Stars
Sex Scenes: Yes.
Series: No.
Subject: One message that changed it all.
Synopsis:
It all started with a sexy selfie.

Texted to the wrong number.

Oops.

Not my finest moment—but I have nothing to be ashamed of.

She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douche-bags she was never dating again.

It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere—on the fiery and sharp-tongued, Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text for the rest of the evening.

The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

When I strolled into the office, I was introduced to Peyton as the new client I needed to win over. The Peyton , in case you're not tracking.

And let’s just say she had my full attention.

Brains? Check.

Beauty? Oh yeah.

And the best part? She hated me on sight.

Dear God, do I love a challenge.

Let the games begin.

Josh an Peyton's story was fun and witty.
wrong number and an unwanted picture set them on a path, neither of them expected.

Peyton is about to get her big break, it's everything she has ever wanted and the last thing she expects when she enters that conference room is him. She has lived for her job and there is no way she will let anything distract her from her price.

Josh has a great life, full of friends and family, but he feels something is missing. They say that happiness is only real when shared and he hasn't had that in such a long time, he can't even remember the last time he even went on a date.

The sexting is completely not him, and he regret it the moment if happens, but he couldn't have know that it might have changed everything and gotten him closer to what he wanted.

Their situation is complicated to say the least and they are at risk of ruining everything, but is it worth it?

A passion like theirs can't be stopped, they will find that out eventually.

Josh is such a guy, I kept shaking my head at his decision making, how couldn't he see what a mess he was making.

In the end, will true love survive?

Because of Lila (Sea Breeze Meets Rosemary Beach #2) by Abbi Glines

My Rating: 5 Stars
Sex Scenes: Yes.
Series: Yes, Sea Breeze Meets Rosemary Beach #2.
Subject:
Synopsis:
Prim, proper, classic good girl, and her least favorite label - icy.

Lila Kate Carter has heard them all. The last one, being the newest. She is not icy. She just doesn’t care for Cruz Kerrington and his spoiled, selfish, careless ways. That doesn’t make her icy, that makes him a jerk!

Tired of being labeled and doing what is expected of her, Lila Kate leaves Rosemary Beach, Florida ready for an adventure. Wanting to recreate herself, find a new path, and become something more.

Eli Hardy is tired of women who always act the same, do the same thing and expect the same thing. He's ready to swear off women until he can get the rest of his life together.

Two weeks into his no-women-rule he meets Lila. She’s so damn sweet and polite. Like she walked right out of an etiquette book. But he’d already been drunk before she walked in so there was a good chance she might not be as stunning and perfect as he thinks. He’s just too drunk to worry about that.

The next morning, he swears he can still smell her on his skin. He just can’t remember why or what happened after that third dance.

Their worlds are about to collide, and so are the secrets and lies.

Review

I enjoyed this book, we are used to Abbi's male characters to be not such good guys at the beginning but then growing into better men and this is no exception.

Cruz and Lila's relationship was TOXIC! He hurt her all the time, and treated her as if he didn't care, which is not such a great role model for relationships.

That being said, I love a bad boy turned around love story, and him realizing that he was in love with her was a big step in the right direction.

In the real world this would only end in misery for both, but I'm glad for these two characters and their HEA.

ABBI SYNOPSIS
Glines3ecover

Summer had returned to the coastal town of Sea Breeze, Alabama. The nightlife lit up with scantily clad sun-kissed bodies, live music, the smell of freshly cooked seafood. Taking it all in he wondered if coming back had been the best thing. He wasn’t the same man who had driven out of town a year ago on the motorcycle he’d spontaneously bought after his best friend’s wedding. From the messy blond curls he’d let grow out to the tattoos now covering his arms, part of his chest and even the side of his neck, it all represented a part of his journey.

Eli Hardy was back, but he didn’t plan on staying for long.

Abbi-2

I managed a bright smile that was so fake it was ridiculous to the other three standing there then turned on my heels and made my way to the French doors overlooking the gulf. Before I reached the exit, Eli moved in front of me and opened a door then stood back so I could go outside. There was the guy I remembered. The gentleman everyone loved. But as quickly as he appeared with the opening of the door, it was gone. No smile. No thank you for the rescue. Not even silent eye contact. I slid off my heels and left them at the top of the stairs then headed down toward the sand below barefoot. The breeze was warm, so my arms weren’t chilled. Summer wasn’t officially here until the solstice, but in South Alabama, it had most definitely arrived.

The moon was full and walking beside Eli in the silence felt nice. There was no need to talk if he didn’t want to. We’d done that already. I hadn’t gotten him out here to talk anyway. I was tired of talking today. I’d done more than I usually did. Besides, Eli had little to say. No need to force him to speak. The house was just a light in the distance when he finally spoke. “Why did you do that?” he asked. I lifted a shoulder to give a half shrug. Still no thank you. Not even the sound of gratitude. “You looked like you needed an escape.” “I did,” he agreed. “I was headed upstairs to escape myself. But I couldn’t ignore my hero mentality and let a poor guy get eaten alive by angry females.” “Hmmm,” was his only response. What did that mean? And why did it have to sound so raspy and sexy? I should be annoyed by his lack of response. Not turned on by a deep husky rumble. Back off Ophelia. Don’t go there. You already discussed this with yourself. He is off limits. Girl code unscripted or some shit. “I owe you one.” His voice and words surprising me. That was as close to a thank you I was going to get, but I’d take it. Besides if he was gushing over me and appreciative would I be as attracted to him? I knew that answer and I was going to pretend I didn’t. It made me sound shallow. I hated shallow. Needing to get out of my own head, I decided I’d do the small talk thing. Or attempt it with him. “No, I think we are even now. I owed you one,” I told him. I felt his gaze on me then. Meeting that gaze was a stupid idea.

Abbi Review
🌴🌊☀

I enjoyed Eli in the previous books and from the start this poor nice guy couldn't get a break and it seems that's not about to change now.

In this book we get to read about Ophelia Finlay and Eli Hardy's story and it wouldn't be a Sea Breeze or Rosemary Beach story without some major drama!

After everything that has happened with Bliss and Lila Kate, Eli needs a breather. He takes off looking to give his life meaning and find what is out there. Needless to say that he gets way more than he bargained for, life teaches him what real loss is all about.

He comes back changed but his feeling towards Ophelia seem to be the same.

Ophelia's life is a happy one, her family loves her and she has a job that pays the bills, but she feels that she is missing something. The pressure of having parents who's love story is a story of a life time set her standards pretty high, so she is not settling for less.Every man in her life has to stand behind her walls.

So how do a broken man and a woman that hides her heart behind strong walls can make it work?

They complimented each other perfectly, she was the calm to his stormy heart and the fact that she was patient with him made all the difference.
Sometimes when love hits us we get overwhelmed and go too fast and too hard, and that might be a recipe for disaster. We have all been at a moment in our lives when we can't get enough of someone and we want them around all the time, and we want to know all their secrets. But that is what ends up killing the connection.

In this case, Ophelia's patience with Eli's past was what made all the difference for him. She was his safe heaven.

A Real love story, where people have ugly problems and where true love has to battle with real life issues.
